You guys are incredibly lucky to have water you can drink, basically for free.

I have to pay for the privilege of keeping drinkable water in the house.  (I buy purified water by the five gallon container, usually seven large containers at a time to make for fewer trips to "TeH Water Store."   Thirty five gallons - approximately one hundred thirty two liters [added for conversational relevance] - of purified water will last me and my family a week and a half. I only use it to drink and to make coffee or tea.)

We pay less than £5 a week water rates and Yorkshire tap water is very nice (although I'll admit to some bias there  Cheesy), yes we are lucky.  Where my parents live although you're supposed to be able to drink the water it tastes awful, even the locals buy bottled water.

We have a well that taps into a granite aquifer 630 feet deep and the water tastes great.

I had the bosses announce the impending horror several times today over the closed com system we all wear at work. Not only do I work with many "kids"  (people mostly younger than thirty years of age), but this Daylight Savings Time crap is NEW to the Hoosier State. Fucking everyone forgets it!!

I don't want to be the only one showing up at work at (what would have been five AM, yesterday) six AM tomorrow.

BTW, I am agreeing with you, in general. The wasted money we spend, even in this northerly state, on an additional hour of air conditioning in the summer time, is fucking INSANE!!!

We should just stop this bullshit!

... go back to watching the sun to determine what time it is and whether or not we should be at work or play.

And every country seems to have it's own date of changing the times too. International time differences keep shifting the next couple of weeks.  yikes

See, that is the difference. Our water comes from hundred foot deep wells (or even surface springs) filtered by limestone. I fucking swear that the water is horribly toxic.

Most locals do not agree with me, but FFS, I can not even stand the smell of natural Indy well water within an arm's distance of my face. I can do OK with the river water, because it is mostly surface run-off filled with rotting leaf waste, dead insects and fish fucking residue. It's not too bad at all once you strain and boil it. I did this for a while when I first moved up here. I was unaware at the time of the industrial spoils that also pollute the run-off water available at the river. I DO believe that the river water is worse for us, even though it tastes OK.

I was already used to drinking pure water, though, when I moved up here. South Texas water is quite different, but hardly tolerable, either. I have made the effort to purchase purified water to drink since I was a teen.

I am very sensitive to metals and their salts in my mixed up, hyper-active olfactory and half-dead tasting abilities. I look back and this does make a kind of sense to me. I can smell so deeply into what people do. I would trade that "X-MAN ability"  for some kind of fire vision or something, if I could.
 Undecided

... or better yet, I could trade up for something useful, like looking into the internet and seeing Hyke with no clothes on or something. smarty

Feeling really blessed today- everyone is finally over that nasty flu bug, my rose is finally on route to me, and I got woken up this morning by 3 bouncy, smiley children with chocolates, a potted hyacinth and beautiful hand-made cards.  Smiley

i phoned mine, but didn't get her anything.  if i sent a any of my family a b'day card, they'd probably die from shock.  it's her b'day on tuesday, though, and i'll be seeing them at easter, so i'll take her shopping and get her a big pressie for all three rolled into one: it's what i usually do.

No, I was in the car with my folks. We just drove past from where you live.

I'll only visit when you're in the right mood for it. I don't like to appear out of the blue.

Wondering when Carla will get home.  The severe weather in Boston caused Amtrak delays in it's northbound train out of North Station.  At least it's stopped raining up here!   Tongue

Carla is on her way.  The train finally got clearance (major flooding around Boston and coastal areas of Mass., NH and Maine.) and it was going thru NH as I called her.   headbang
